Are you keen to pursue a career in engineering? Are you passionate about making a difference to the environment and resourcing the world? Then an apprenticeship at Veolia could be just for you.
Veolia, the UK’s leading resource management company, is recruiting four new apprentices to work across three of its Energy Recovery Facilities (ERF), in Birmingham, Shropshire and Staffordshire. Each of the ERF’s takes waste that can’t be recycled away from residents and businesses and utilises the energy from the waste to generate electricity. The new apprentices will have the opportunity to work towards a Level 3 Diploma in Engineering, a certificate in Performing Engineering Operations and an NVQ Level 3 Engineering Maintenance.
Scott Francis from Veolia commented: “We’re delighted to be able to take on four new apprentices this year to work at our ERF’s in the Midlands. With the waste industry changing so much over the next few years, it will be a really exciting time to join the company. We’re recruiting apprentices for Level 3 so that could be someone entering the world of work for the first time, or someone who is starting on a new career path. Regardless, they will have the opportunity to learn, while earning at the same time.
“Our new recruits will be working across three ERF’s in the Midlands region with experts, other apprentices and graduates. They’ll have to adapt quickly to the pace and scale of what we do, but they’ll have the chance to make an impact right at the start of their career.”
Joe Walker is one of Veolia's existing apprentices. The 19-year-old, who is from Wolverhampton and is an Advanced Electrical and Mechanical Engineering apprentice, encouraged others to apply for the apprentice.
Joe said: “As a child, I spent a lot of my time building and upgrading motorcycles and this 100% led me into the ‘hands-on’ working environment. My apprenticeship has not only given me this practical experience but also an understanding of the consultative side of engineering too, underpinned by science, materials and business studies. Veolia offers apprentice’s great opportunities for career progression so if you're thinking about applying, just go for it! It's a brilliant place to work."
